Raising awareness about the free-roaming dogs of Georgia

An important part of our work is to raise awareness about why there are dogs on the streets and in people’s communities, and to change perceptions about those dogs and how to interact with them. We works with many local Georgian volunteers who care for these dogs and who bring them to our spay/neuter programme at the four vet clinics that offer our service in Tbilisi. We know that many understand the root causes of why there are free-roaming dog populations, but it is also important to reach out to the next generation and encourage them to show compassion towards these dogs, working towards building healthier and safer communities both for the dogs and for residents.

Last year we asked some Georgian children what they thought about the dogs and what sort of relationship people can have with the dogs, and we are pleased to showcase some of their responses here:
